Effective from April, 3, the airline will perform daily flights between the two cities. As it is the case with the recently announced Pontianak–Palangkaraya route, also on Kalimantan, Wings Air will become the first and only airline to fly the route.
Flights from Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarbaru, located 25 kilometers from Banjarmasin, are scheduled to leave at 4 pm and arrive to H. Asan Airport in Sampit at 3.40 pm. The return flights will depart Sampit at 4 pm and get to Banjarmasin at 5.40 pm. The time difference between the two destinations is one hour, Banjarmasin being one hour ahead of Sampit. Flight time should be around 40 minutes either way.
ATR 72-500 and 72-600 aircraft accommodating up to 72 economy class passengers will be used to service the route.
With two new routes announced for launch by Wings Air Kalimantan is getting a much needed better connectivity which will boost both tourism and local economies.

One more direct air link is due to be launched in Indonesia in April: Wings Air, a scheduled commuter passenger low cost airline based in Surabaya and a subsidiary of Lion Air Group, will connect Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan with Sampit in Central Kalimantan.
