Airlines in Thailand Slash Prices to Encourage Domestic Travel

Thai tourism is under strain – Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) expects that tourist numbers will be low during at least six months from now. To negotiate the falling numbers of passengers, airlines in Thailand are slashing ticket prices.

Thai Airways International (THAI) encourages international travellers to explore the country by offering discounts on domestic flights.

Low-cost carriers are focusing on domestic travel as well, as the virus outbreak cuts the number of outbound choices day by day.

Thai AirAsia has announced a flash sale with 100-baht discounts for all domestic routes for a limited period of time.

Nok Air has to cut pilots and is now offering one-way air-fare to destinations across Thailand starting from 680 baht for flights till the end of the month.

Vietjet Air looks even more appealing with their ticket prices for all routes within Thailand cut by 50%.

NokScoot airline fired 11 pilots and 36 cabin crew to cut the costs.

At the moment it seems quite possible that Thailand may lose much more than the TAT's projection of 250 billion baht.

While airlines and tourism industry in the country are struggling through a very difficult period, are there many of us who are ready to jump at the opportunity and travel for less?
