The new livery on the AirAsia Airbus 320-200, already dubbed "Let's Go To Belitung", was designed in collaboration with the Belitung administration and introduced at H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin International Airport in Tanjung Pandan.
Inspired by Belitung's most iconic sights, the livery combines blue, orange and yellow. Some of Belitung attractions which are depicted include Tanjung Kelayang, Lengkuas Island, a replica of SD Muhammadiyah Laskar Pelangi elementary school, Gurok Pakuk Waterfall and the tarsius, a primate species endemic to the region.
The new livery is part of AirAsia Indonesia's long-term strategy to promote Belitung as one of the country's 10 New Bali destinations. Located east of Sumatra, Belitung island boasts pristine beaches famous for their rounded granite boulders, fine sand and calm waters and a number of offshore islets surrounded by coral reefs and offering great snorkelling opportunities.
AirAsia Indonesia president director Veranita Yosephine Sinaga commented on the occasion: "With the availability of 13 Asia-Pacific destinations that are connected with Belitung through our fly-thru service via Kuala Lumpur, hopefully the world will get to know Indonesian tourism more through the beauty of Belitung."
