One of the museum’s curators told media sources that the whole complex is in a good state of repair. He added that it was a typical example of the architectural style of well-to-do families prevalent in the early years of the 19th century.
The entry gateway was constructed from laterite bricks and has intricate carvings on its fascia that are intact. The main building features a wooden framework that resembles some of the older structures found in Hue.
The frame holds the clay walls together and supports a roof fashioned from earthenware tiles. The beams and posts that make up the framework have carved images of flowers and avian species on them.
Ha Tinh’s draws are mostly limited to the museum and glimpses of the Vietnam of yesteryear. While the attractions are not abundant, many bus and train travellers find themselves spending a night here as the provincial capital is on routes linking the north and south of the country as well as close to Highway 8 for Laos.

A Vietnamese regional museum has released news of an ambitious plan to acquire and preserve a heritage house. Curators at Ha Tinh Museum say they discovered the beautiful 200-year old complex while on an exploratory trip in the province’s Huong Son mountain district.
