The main reason for closure of the trail was several accedents which involved visitors and wild cattle encounters. Now that has been sorted out and the scenic trail is accessible again.
The Qingtiangang Circular Trail consists of a number of shorter routes making for a great daytrip from Taipei. It encompasses the central walking path, the Mt. Zhugao Branch Trail, and the grassland section of the Lengshuikeng-Qingtiangang Trail.
The 510-metre central walking path was first to reopen in September last year with the Mt. Zhugao Branch Trail and the grassland section of the Lengshuikeng-Qingtiangang Trail joining only in January 2020.
The Yangmingshan National Park sits between Taipei and New Taipei City and is easily reachable as a daytrip. The park's main attractions include cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes, and hiking trails. Taiwan's tallest dormant volcano, Seven Star Mountain, is also located within the park. Due to its vicinity to Taipei, the park is highly popular both with local visitors and foreign tourists.
