Sriwijaya Air Relaunches Makassar Service This Month

Sriwijaya Air, an Indonesian Jakarta-based airline and the country's third largest carrier, relaucnhes its flights to Makassar this month.

The airline ceased flights between Makassar and other destinations in Indonesia for commercial reasons several years ago, yet now with passenger demand growing, Sriwijaya Air took a decision to relaunch the service.

Starting from early February, Sriwijaya Air will offer service between Makassar, South Sulawesi, and four destinations in Indonesia including:

– Denpassar in Bali, available on a daily bases;
Balikpapan in East Kalimantan on Monday, Friday and Sunday;
Luwuk in Central Sulawesi, available on a daily bases;
Surabaya in East Java, served twice a day.

Once an import port of Dutch Spice Trade, today Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi, is a bustling city boasting great beaches, cuisine and culture. Many attractive destinations easily reachable from the city like Losari Beach with a floating mosque and Bantimurung National Park are waiting to be explored. Some of the most important sights in the city include the 17th century Dutch Fort Rotterdam; the Trans Studio Makassar – the third largest indoor theme park in the world; the Karebosi Link—the first underground shopping centre in Indonesia.

Sriwijaya Air serves over three dozen destinations across Indonesia. It also flights to 10 destinations in China and operates flights to Malaysia, Timor Leste and seasonal flights to Sri Lanka.
