Indian Government Enourages Indians to Travel Domestically

Indian Government will reward those Indian citizens who travel to at least 15 domestic destinations within a year.

The Union Tourism Minister revealed the government will actually sponsor travel expences of those Indian travellers who will manage to explore 15 destinations counrty-wide within a year.

To participate in the campaign which is called Dekho Apna Desh, travellers should make an application online via the official website. To prove they qualify for participation, they should upload photos of the 15 places in India visited within a year's time. All the destinations should be outside the state of residents of the applicants. The campaign will last till 2022 so travellers have enough time to visit the number of locations necessary to take part in the campaign.

India is not the only country in Asia that encourages citizens to travel domestically. The Tourist Association of Thailand (TAT), to celebrate its 60th anniversary, launched a special ’60 Happiness Routes @ Mueang Thai the Series’ campaign which allows 60-year-old travellers to buy special 60-baht tickets through a dedicated website and offers promotional air tickets as well as special hotel and hostel deals to all other travellers who choose to follow the suggestes itineries.

To boost domestic travel, some of the most popular attractions across Thailand offer free entrance during certain periods for residents of the selected provinces, too.
