Garuda Indonesia World's Best for On-Time Performance in 2019

The annual comprehensive ranking of the world's largest airlines and airports for on-time performance (OTP), The Punctuality League 2020, is out now and the airlines from Asia are heavily featured in all the lists!

The ranking includes 5 lists for airlines and 5 – for airports. Airlines are ranked in five categories:

Mega – the world's top operators globally in terms of scheduled flights on 2019
Mainline – (excluding low-cost carriers)
LLC – low-cost carriers
Regional
* Top-20 airlines (including airlines of all categories)

Garuda Indonesia tops the list of Top-20 most puctual airlines with 95.01 percent of its flights operated on time. Taking into account that the airline operates from one of the world's most congested airports, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at Jakarta, the result is especially impressive.

Copa Airlines (92.01%), the flag carrier of Panama, comes close second and Skymark Airlines (90.12%), a regional airline from Tokyo, Japan, is the third best in the Top-20, but it is the on the very top of the list of the best LCC, followed by Jetstar Asia (85.48%) from Singapore and Thai AirAsia, a Thailand-based joint venture of Malaysian low-fare airline AirAsia and Thailand's Asia Aviation.

Airports are ranked according to their passenger capacity. The best chances to take off in time offer the following airports: Minsk in Belarus (Small; 2.5-5 mln seats; 92.60% on time); Panama City in Panama (Medium; 5-10 mln; 92.21%); Osaka Itami in Japan (Large; 10-20 mln; 88.03%); Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen in Turkey (Major; 20-30 mln; 83.42%); Moscow Sheremetyevo in Russia (Mega; 30+; 86.87%).
