Hebei, China Encourages Tourists to Visit in Winter

A northern Chinese province of Hebei, located near Beijing, launched a seasonal winter promotion campaign to attract more tourists from the capital, both local and overseas.

The campaign is a result of joined efforts between Hebei's almost 100 scenic spots and tourist enterprises. Together they offer more than a hundred promotions to draw visitors, including free tickets and considerable discounts on entry fees.

Besides natural attractions, during the winter season over 300 cultural tourism festivals will take place in Hebei. These include Hebei New Year's Day and Spring Festival, Ice and Falls Festival, Ice and Snow Carnival, Non-Relic Show, Folk Temple Fair, Social Fire Festival, and Lantern Festival among others.

Located within an easy reach from Beijing, Hebei is famous for hot springs. Some of the best ones include Tangshan Zunhua's Tangquan Palace Hot Springs, Baoding China Baishishan Hot Springs Kangkang Town, Bazhou Tong Hot Springs, Shijiazhuang's Bailu Hot Springs, and Guoyuan Hot Springs.

It is also home to the Ming Great Wall which crosses the northern part of the province and the Chengde Mountain Resort which together with the neighbouring temples was recognised as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Qing dynasty imperial tombs at Zunhua and Yixian are the resting place of 237 members of the Qing imperial family and the World Heritage Site, too.
