Pangmon Lao–Thai Border Crossing to Open for International Tourists

Pangmon border crossing in Xayaboury in Laos will be upgraded to an international crossing point to attract more tourists and facilitate the transport of goods effective from February, 1, this year.

The border crossing sits between Laos and Thailand. Located in Ban Pangmon in Xayaboury on the Lao side, it connects to Ban Huak in the northern province of Phayao on the Thai side.

After the upgrade, the Pangmon border crossing will become the fourth border with the international status in Xayaboury province, other three being Nam Ngeun checkpoint; Nam Heuang checkpoint; and Phoudou checkpoint. The full list of Laos-Thai border crossing also includes:

Friendship bridge I checkpoint in Vientiane

Friendship bridge II checkpoint in Savannakhet
Vang Tao checkpoint in Champasak

Sitting 300 km north of Vientiane, Xayaboury is home to more elephants than any other province in Laos. Elephant camps is the province's main attractions. Last year, over 160,000 foreign tourists visited the province. In order to draw more international visitors, this year, the Elephant Festival will be help in Xayaboury from February 22 to 28.
