Harbin Ice and Snow World Opened for This Winter Season

China's largest ice and snow theme park, Harbin Ice and Snow World, has opened earlier this week for its 21st winter season.

Located in Harbin, the capital of the northeastern province of Heilongjiang in China, Harbin Ice and Snow World is a unique ice and snow tourist and cultural attraction under the partonage of Harbin Municipal Government and sponsored by Harbin Cultural Tourism Group.

This year, the park covers an area of 600,000 square meters and features 21 sites filled with snow and ice carvings and sculptures. 220,000 cubic meters of ice and snow were used to construct this winter wonderland.

Besides enjoying ice sculptures, visitors of the park will be offered to take part in 20+ interactive entertainment programs. During the festival, two international ice carving competitions will be held.

Harbin Ice and Snow World is part of the world-famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival often considered the best winter attraction in the world. The festival originated in Harbin's traditional ice lantern show and garden party that takes place in winter, which began in 1963. This time, the festival will start of January, 5, 2020 and last one month. It is the 36th edition of the festival.
