Nghe An, Vietnam to Host Sunflower Festival

Nghe An, a north-central Vietnamese province bordering Laos and the Gulf of Tonkin, will host the Sunflower Festival scheduled for December 27–29.

The annual festival is a relatively new addition to the province's offering of tourist attractions. The aim of the festival is to promote Nghe An as an attractive tourist destination that offers unusual tourism products and experiences that are within an easy reach from a popular trans-Vietnam route following the Ho Chi Minh Highway.

This year, the festival will focus on sustainability and environmental protection. The main scene of the festival is a 100 ha sunflower field that will be in full bloom by the end of the year. Visitors will be offered to join a special photo tour of the field as well as savour Nghe An's local delicacies brought to the festival from all the parts of the province.

Is it the fourth edition of the festival which was first held in 2016. It will be larger and offer more activities than before. About 6.5 million tourists are expected to visit the even with 4.7 million staying overnight, some 9.5 percent more than in 2018. The estimated tourism generated income is likely to reach VND8,800 billion (USD381 million).
