Tourists are flocking to Sa Pa to see the snow-covered peak of Mount Fansipan, Vietnam's highest mountain, and to enjoy low temperatures that dropped to about 1 degree above zero thanks to a cold spell that overwhelmed the region.
Sa Pa and the neighbouring areas including towns of Bac ha and Pho Rang have been in the cold zone since the beginning of December and the chilly weather is forecast to stay for at least a week.
The winter festival in Sa Pa is in full swing at the moment. This year, it is expected to attract thousands of both domestic and overseas visitors. The organazers of the festival, the Sun Group’s Sun World Fansipan Legend Company, have preraped an array of ice & snow activities for the guests including an 18m-high Christmas tree made up of 160 transparent crystal blocks, a 50m ice tunnel and entertaining music performances.
The festival themed 'Snowy Paradise' celebrates the cold season in Sa Pa, that sits some 1,600 m above the sea level.
Sa Pa Sees First Snow This Season
