Tourist Arrivals in Philippines Continue Growing Jan–Sept 2019

Inbound tourism in the Philippines continues growing. During the first nine months of 2019, between January and September, over 6 million oveseas travellers visited the country, the Department of Tourism (DOT) reports.

In QI–QII–QIII the Philippines received a total of 6,161,503 visitors, a 14.37 percent increase on year-to-year bases. September, one of the worsth months for tourism in the Philippines, showed even a higher growth of 17.09 percent. The figures look very promising for the industry in general and indicate the Philippines are on the right way in terms of developing tourism. 

Eight out of 10 country's major tourism source markets demonstrated a solid growth, too. South Korea tops the list with 1,450,792 arrivals with China being a close runner-up with 1,359,817. The United States comes the third with 792,619 visitor arrivals between January–September. Japan performed better than the USA in September but it is still number 4 in the total ranking with 518,211 arrivals, followed by Taiwan, with 252,578.

Up to now, 2019 has proven to be a good year for Philippine tourism as the country has also received recognition on its sustainable tourism efforts.
