Ben Tre Province, Vietnam, to Host Coconut Festival

Do you like coconuts? Then Bến Tre province in the Mekong Delta, southern Vietnam, is where you should be on November, 16 as the annual Bến Tre Coconut festival 2019 hits the province.

Organised by the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the five days even will feature over 2,000 performers and a variety of activities celebrating coconuts and all thing coconut produced locally.

The festival promotes tourism in Ben Tre and draws attention to the eco-tourism potential of the province rich in natural, historical and cultural sites. The festival also showcases beautiful traditional everyday attire, áo bà ba, historically worn by women in the south, encouraging the locals to continue the centuries-old tradition.

There will be a 'Beauty of Bến Tre' pageant with ladies between 18 and 26 y.o. who live or study in the province competing for the title.

Cultural and music performances themed around traditional cultural values of Ben Tre people are scheduled, too, as well as a series of forums and seminars on the culture and lifestyle of the province.

The opening ceremony will be held on November 16 in An Hội Park in Bến Tre. It is expected that this year's event will attract 20,000 visitors.
