North East Festival in New Delhi to Kick Off on November 8

Delhi to host North East Festival (NEF) that will showcase the diversity and beauty of the North East of the country and boost tourism and business in the region.

This year, the festival will take place for the seventh time. The three-days event will kick off on November, 8, at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Arts, New Delhi. The festival aims to showcase the best of the region under one roof and build bridges.

The program of the festival will feature a variety of activities that will make visitors acquainted with the region, help learn about the culture and traditions of the North East. There will be workshops on tribal languages, fashion shows, local dance performances and food fairs featuring characteristic and most popular regional delicacies as well as organic vegetables and fruits grown locally. There will be one hundred stalls selling traditional handicraft products and souvenirs fron the North East.

North East is the easternmost region of India that comprises eight states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripure. Tourism is an important industry for the North East. Lying in the Eastern Himalayas and valey plains, the North East boasts great national parks and hills stations. Mountain monasteries, palaces and temples also abound there.
