Taipei 101's sleek observation deck is located on the 89th floor of the tower and offers sweeping, 360º city views of the island from the hight of 390 m. It is included into the list of the 10 highest observation decks in the world and is one of the most popular attractions of the country. Between 2004 and 2010, Taipei 101 used to be the tallest building in the world. Besides its star status, the tower features a unique striking design. There is a souvenir shop at the observatory.
Regardless the popularity of the tower, the numbers of visitors dropped recently due to China's ban on individual travellers visiting the island. The administration of Taiwan's tallest building is now trying to lure more Taiwanese visitors to check the attraction to compensate.
Statistics says that on average only between 5 and 7 percent of visitors to the observation deck are Taiwanese, what accounts for about 210,000 out of 2.13 million. To stimulate the locals to visit, Taipei 101 offers a special TN$101 admission tickets to all visitors with Taiwanese ID every day till December 31, 2019 from 9 am to 12 pm. Between noon and 5 pm there is another 'pay 1 get 1 free' admission ticket promotion that allows every paying visitor to bring a companion free of charge.
