The Royal Barge Procession is planned for Thursday, October, 24, 2019. It will be the final event of the Coronation of King Rama X. Five minor rehearsals have already taken place during the last 30 days, and there are three more minor rehearsals and two full dress rehearsals prior to the main event.
6th minor rehearsal – Friday, September, 27, 2019
7th minor rehearsal – Thursday, October, 3, 2019
8th minor rehearsal – Monday, October, 7, 2019
1st full dress rehearsal – Thursday, October, 17, 2019
2nd full dress rehearsal – Monday, October, 21, 2019
The Royal Barge Procession will begin on October, 24 at the Wasukri pier at 4 pm. His Majesty the King will travel down the river to Wat Arun to present robes to Buddhist monks as part of Royal Kathin Ceremony. About 2,300 oarsmen will take part in the procession rowing over 50 barges arranged into five groups. The total distance the procession will cover is about four kilometers.
The Royal Barge Procession will mark the conclusion of the Royal Coronation Ceremony, which is considered one of the most important events for all Thai kings.
