Pics in Social Media Main Source of Inspiration for Travel

A survey conducted by Booking.com revealed that Instagram is the main source of inspiration for travellers aged 16–24, aka Generation (Gen) Z.

While social media is now an integral and indispensable part of our life, it is also the main source of inspiration for travel for Generation Z. Gen Z rely on social media when picking a destination, planning the route and deciding on places to stay, eat and see.

Over 21,000 people from around the world were surveyed during the study. A quarter of all those surveyed belonged to Gen Z. More than a half of the responders said that they trust recommendations from influencers and celebrities they do not know. 56 percent always share the pictures on social media while travelling. At the same time, Gen Z believe that too much attention is given to social media during travels what ruins the experience of visiting new places.

Yet many Gen Zers travel with the only purpose to post and share their pictures and experiences on social media. About 60 percent only travel to destinations that look good in pictures. The most active part of Gen Z as far as sharing pictures is concerned is millenials (67 percent).

Unsurprisingly, Wi-Fi is named the most important ammentity during the stay – 53 percent of travellers do not consider a property without Wi-Fi.
