The Yani Wetland Tourism Zone sits in the eastern city of Nyingchi in Tibet autonomous region. Pelri Mountain is the point of coinfluence of the city's Nyangchu River and the Yarlung Zangpo River that form a vast riverbank with outstanding scenery. In Tibetian, Pelri Mountain is known as the Pelgyal Neri. It is an important pilgrimage site for adherents of the Tibetan Ben religion.
To further develop Nyingchi's tourism industry, Guanngdong province has recently announced that it will invest over USD63 million. Besides the new glass observation deck, tourist facilities in the Yani Wetland Scenic Area will be upgraded and 22 "prosperous model villages" will be built in Nyingchi to attract more tourists to the region.
Currently visitors are offered to join the Niyang River boat tour, indulge in food tasting, or enjoy mountainous trekking and hiking on the high altitude plateau. Some of the most popular destinations in Nyingchi include the Nanjiabawa Peak, the Yarlung Zangbo Great Canyon believed to be the world's largest canyon, Basum Lake, Zayu and Bome.
