Batik Air Now Flies Direct Between Bali and Flores

Batik Air, an Indonesian airline founded in 2012 and a subsidiary of low-cost carrier Lion Air, now flies direct between Bali and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Earlier, the airline introduced two other routes from and to Labuan Bajo, one to the capital city of Jakarta on the northwest coast of Java and to Surabaya, East Java. Both routes proved successful and prompted introduction of more direct flights between Flores where Labuan Bajo is located and other popular destinations across the country.

The maiden flight departed I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali at 11.35 am with 142 passengers on board and landed at Komodo Airport in NTT at 12.35 pm. The route will be served by an Airbus A320-200CEO aircraft capable to accomodate 12 business class and 144 economy class passengers. Flight duration between Bali and Flores is between 60 and 80 minutes.

The route from Bali to Labuan Bajo is among popular routes in the country. Besides Batik Air, it is served by Indonesian AirAsia, Wings Abadi Airlines, PT Nam Air and Garuda Indonesia. One-way prices vary but usually lie within USD40–USD100 range.
