Bangkok café to stage comedy evening

A café close to Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road is staging an open-mike comedy evening this coming Saturday, 6 December. The fun begins at the Overground Bar & Cafe at 20:30 with a performance by Alex Sypsomos who says he will be singing his customary soulful numbers.

Comedians and comediennes with slots on the evening’s programme include David Ale from England and Russia’s Olga Gavrilova. Despite the fact many slots are already booked, the Overground’s management says there are still quite a few available and budding comics only need to show up 30 minutes prior to the start of the show or send an e-mail to Bangkok Hilarious Comedy.

The Overground says people wishing to perform only need material that is funny and original. It can be jokes, a mime show, a stand-up sketch or anything in a similar genre. Comics who do a successful slot will get two free drinks and an invitation to comedy sessions in the future.

As well as comics on stage during the evening, Marcelo L Moura and Nino will be serenading the audience with acoustically themed tunes and DJ Rory Breaker will be on the turntables. The Overground is situated on Sukhumvit Road’s Soi 22 and is one of the Thai capital’s prime spots to take in live music, comedy and performing arts shows.
