Air KBZ Adds More Flights to Mandalay, Heho and Lashio

Air Kanbawza, known as Air KBZ, a privately owned domestic Myanmar airline based in Yangon, increases the number of flights to Mandalay region and two destinations in the Shan state – Lashio and Heho.

Air Kanbawza flies from Yangon to Myitkyina, Nyaung-U, Kalay, Tachileik, Myeik, Kawthoung, Thandwe, Sittwe and Nay Pyi Taw. MandalayHeho and Lashio have been on the air company's route map since it began its operations back in 2011, but now the number of flights to these three destinations will be increased.

The increase of frequency was introduced in response to demand after the last week's string of coordinated attacks in Shan and Mandalay damaged Gote Twin Bridge in Shan State leaving locals and fereign tourists stranded. According to the Lashio Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, now all 57 tourists who remained stranded in Lashio, Thibaw and Nawngcho townships have safely arrived to Yangon and Mandalay

Land transportation of goods and commuting between destinations in Shan State and Mandalay region with the rest of the country remains difficult. While authorities assure it is still safe to travel to popular tourist destinations across the country, tourists are advised to check the current situation before going.

Travel agencies has stopped offering several itineraries – mostly tours to Thibaw and Nawngcho in Shan State to foreign tourists for a time being until further notice.
