AirAsia to Connect Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Belitung, Indonesia

AirAsia, a Malaysian low-cost and largest airline, is planning to add to their portfolio a direct flight between Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia and Belitung, an island paradise off the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.

The route will be operational starting from 2 October 2019 with four flights per week.

Belitung will become the 15th destination in Indonesia with direct air link to Kuala Lumpur. Other 14 are Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bali, Lombok, Yogyakarta, Pekanbaru, Pontianak, Padang, Palembang, Semarang, Makassar, Bandung and Banda Aceh.

AirAsia Regional Commercial Head said, “Indonesia has more to offer than just Bali and Lombok. Belitung is a beautiful, amazing place with huge untapped tourism potential, and we hope that with this new direct service, more and more people will be able to discover this hidden gem. The new route is also a testament to our firm commitment to support the Indonesian government in its efforts to develop 10 new priority tourism destinations.”

Besides the new direct Kuala Lumpur–Belitung route, AirAsia will also launch flights to the island from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta with the maiden flight scheduled to take place on 1 October 2019.
