First Duty Free Supermarket in Philippines Opens in Ninoy Aquino Airport

Duty Free Philippines has opened their first supermarket inside an airport. The duty free supermarket is located in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), at the DFP Arrival Mall, South Arrival Lobby, Terminal 3.

The airport supermarket offers passengers a wide selection of products from chocolates to wines, from liquores to cigarettes and even perfumes, apparel, home furnishing, sporting goods and groceries. Practically it is a full-size, fully stocked usual supermarket with dedicated sections and an increased product assortment.

The supermarket covers an area of over 800 square metres and features a variety of items for mass consumption including laundry detergents, shampoo, condiments, canned goods, frozen foods, and snacks as well as cereals, baby care, pasta and noodles, cheese, or yogurt.

The representatives of DFP say the new supermarket raises the bar of the Duty Free 'pasalubong' shopping experience. 'Pasalubong' is a widely spread notion in the Philippines that can be translated as 'bring something home for me'. It is a reflection of a well-established Filipino tradition to bring souvenirs or treats from travels back home to family and friends. Offering Filipino travellers grocery and other items that they would have otherwise bought abroad, DFP targets to enhance travellers' experience by allowing them to avoid paying unnecessary baggage fees and adding overall convenience.
