The two international teams will be captained by Italy’s Fabio Cannavaro and Luís Figo from Portugal. The teams are playing as part of the brand new Global Legends Series 2014. Top English Premier League referee Howard Webb will be controlling play on field.
Gates at Rajamangala open at 17:00 and warm-up activities begin 30 minutes later. Friday coincides with one of Thailand’s most important national holidays, 5 December, which is held in honour of the nation’s reigning monarch, King Bhumibol. At 19:19, a special candle-lit ceremony in honour of King Bhumibol is scheduled to take place.
The ceremony is followed by the game’s kick-off at 19:30. Tickets have been on sale since early in November for this rare opportunity to see some of greatest football stars of recent years in action. Despite the demand, the organisers said recently there were still a few tickets left for sale.
