New Baggage Allowances on Vietnam Airlines Flights

Effective from August, 1, Vietnam Airlines change their baggage allowance policy. These changes concern all domestic and international flights.

The free baggage allowance will no longer depend only on the weight of each passenger's baggage but will be determined by the number of pieces of luggage, too.

This system is widely used by many airlines around the world, Air France, Aeroflot, British Airways, Lufthansa, All Nippon Airways and Korean Air among others. Vietnam Airlines' switching onto this practice will facilitate  travel for connecting passengers who fly with different airlines.

New baggage allowances with Vietnam Airlines are: Business class – 1 piece, 32 kg max on domestic Vietnam routes and regional routes between Vietnam and other Southeast Asian destinations; 2 pieces max 32 kg/each on routes between Vietnam and Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, and US.

Economy class limits are 1 piece 23 kg max with the only exception for Vietnam–Japan and Vietnam–USA routes (2 pieces/23 kg each).

The weight of allowed hand luggage will increase to 12-18 kg depending on the ticket class.

Additional baggage and standard baggage is offered with 50 percent discount of pre-purchased online.
