Last year brought quite positive results and TAT are sure Thai tourism will continue to grow with both international and domestic tourists benefitting from the country's commitment to maintain high quality standards throughout the industry.
In 2020, TAT targets to boost total tourism revenues by 10% over the projection for this year by moving the country's tourism industry out of mass tourism towards responsible tourism.
Revenue-generating quality tourists are in the main focus of TAT in the years to come.
As far as foreign tourists are concerned, TAT is going to put emphasis on specific quality markets and middle-upper income groups. New markets will be explored to ensure influx of first-time visitors. Also of importance is balancing out the seasonality factor through encouraging tourists to visit during the low season.
Alternative tourists products will be developed including homestays, walking streets and local cuisine to deliver positive and unexpected experiences to visitors.
During the recent years, TAT have always maintained and is going to maintain its position as 1 of top 6 countries that generate tourism revenue, and in the top 3 in the Loyalty Index in the Asia Pacific, keeping the country's position as a preferred destination for vacation high.
