Cambodia Hotels to Take Part in Asean Green Hotel Award Event

In a bid to join the Asean Green Hotel Award ceremony for 2020-2022, 35 hotels from different parts of  Cambodia have submitted applications for certification by the Asean Green Hotel Standard.

The majority of hotel owners who applied for certification are from Siem Reap province, Kampot (Sihanoukville) province and Phnom Penh. Today is the last day when applications can be submitted. Representatives of Tourist Accommodation Services and Food Management Department at Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia will then expect all the properties between July 15 and August 28.
It is expected that between seven and 10 Cambodian hotels will qualify for participation in Asean Green Hotel Award event.
The Asean Green Hotel Award is a biennial event. The next one will be announced during the Asean Tourism Forum 2020 in Brunei

Getting the Asean Green Hotel Award is an important step for Cambodian hotels that can potentially make them more attractive in the eyes of foreign tourists.
To take part in the contest, hotels need to meet 11 criteria. Some of them include a safe location, quality service, social security benefits for staff. Participating hotels should be socially responsible, use domestic products and exercise environmental conscience – in the first place, promote water and electricity saving and have a proper waste management system.
