Tourism Project to Be Built By Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

A tourism development project will be soon constructed on one of the man-made islands sitting by the world's longest sea bridge between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao in China.

Public bidding for the project has been already conducted by the management agency of the bridge but the winner has not been announced yet.

The new project will be based on the eastern island and will occupy an area of 25,000-square meter. The island itself is over 103,160 sqm in size. There will be a picturesque sightseeing trail going around the island and allowing visitors to have the best views of the world's longest sea bridge. The management of the project will be located on the western isle.

The 55-kilometer Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was opened last October. Since then over 10 million passengers passed through it. Daily 44,000 vehicles use the bridge that consists of three sections: the Main Bridge (29.6 km or 18.4 mi) in the middle of the Pearl River estuary, the Hong Kong Link Road (12 km or 7.5 mi) in the east and the Zhuhai Link Road (13.4 km or 8.3 mi) in the west of the estuary.

Interestingly, while both Hong Kong and Macao are left-hand traffic areas, the bridge is a right-hand traffic area as is Zhuhai and all other mainland Chinese territories.
