TAT Signs LOI with Their Chinese Partners

In 2018, China was the main source market for the tourism sector in Thailand. Out of 38 million of total arrivals 10.5 million visitors were Chinese. To improve tourism products and services that cater to Chinese visitors the Tourism Association of Thailand (TAT) signed strategic letters of intent with their Chinese partners.

A Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed with the China Travel Service (CTS). The LOI is an important step in consistent promotion of Thailand as a top tourist destination among Chinese travellers. Through the partnership with CTS, TAT is aiming at creating greater awareness of Thailand as a destination among Chinese visitors and attracting to the country more quality tourists ready to pay for quality tourism products and services.

With the help of CTS, China’s largest tourism state enterprise that boasts an extensive network of 63 major offices and 2,500 branches in 19 Chinese prefectures this target looks reachable. Every year, CTS alone sends to Thailand over 300,000 Chinese tourists.

Another LOI was signed with Alipay (Hangzhou) Information Technology Co., Ltd. The LoI establishes the interest of the both parties in a long-lasting strategic partnership in order to help Chinese tourists enjoy better services and facilitating their travel to and around Thailand.

In 2018, the average spend of Chinese tourists per trip per person reached 55,579 Baht, 5.1% up on year-to-year bases. It generated 586,471 million Baht revenue (up 12.6%).
