One of the steps is visa exemption for foreing tourists that is expected to make Cambodia more attractive for overseas visitors – the Board is preparing the respective proposal to submit to the government. Yet even if approved it is unlikely that visa exemption will be introduced soon – the project is at the very early planning stages right now. As an alternative, though, special provisions of visa exemptions for key guests or for travellers visiting the Kingdom during the major festivities may be offered.
Other measures the Board mulls include improvement in connectivity between Cambodia and the main source markets like India; and organization of smooth connections for travellers who opt for cruises between Sihanoukville and Siem Reap provinces.
High on the agenda is also the development of tourist infrastructure in Tonle Sap Lake area and around the Kulen mountains.
To ensure the quality of tourist services offered within the country, the Board will put efforts in curtailing the sale of counterfeit products in Cambodia as fake tourism products sold to travellers damage the image of the country as a prime tourist destination.
