Beijing Daxing International Airport Completes Test Flights

This week, four test flights performed by passenger planes have been completed in Beijing's new Beijing Daxing International Airport.

Flights were performed by flagship aircraft models: an Air China's Boeing 747-8, China Eastern Airlines' Airbus 350-900, China Southern Airlines' A380 and Xiamen Airlines' Boeing 787-9. All the flights were performed on Moday morning. They took off from Beijing Capital International Airport and then landed smoothly in Beijing Daxing International Airport betweem 9.30 am and 9.46 am.

Currently under construction, Beijing's second international airport is located on the border of Beijing and Langfang, Hebei Province. It is scheduled to be completed by June 30 and open September 30 this year. When completed, the new airport will serve as a major international hub airport in Northern China. It will also relieve considerably the flight pressure at Beijing Capital International Airport. Beijing Daxing International Airport will be used as a hub by SkyTeam alliance members, while airlines of the Star Alliance will remain at the existing Beijing Capital International Airport.

Beijing Daxing International Airport will be equipped with 4 runways, and approximately 80 aircraft stands. It is expected to handle 45 million passengers annually by 2021 and 72 million by 2025.
