The project is funded by a consortium of investors from Cambodia, Japan, and the United States. It will comprise a wildlife park and an aquarium that will occupy 100 hectares in Sout Nikom district along the shores of the Tonle Sap Lake. High-quality natural habitats for Asian terrestrial wildlife, whether rescued or captive-bred, will be created in the park.
The construction of the park will be carried out in three phases. After the park is completed, it is expected, that it will potentially extend the length of visitors' stay in Siem Reap by at least a full day. The first phase that will cost USD18 million and is due to become operational in May 2021. The first phase is expected to make visitors extend their stay in Siem Reap at least by half a day.
The park will become the second most important tourist attraction in Siem Reap after the cult Angkor Archeological Complex and will help boost tourism revenue. It will provide a family oriented experience for the visitors and will attract to the province more tourists travelling as a family with younger kids in tow.
