The new port is located on the left side of the Hon Gai-Cai Lan stream and is part of a larger USD47.3 million project of Ha Long International Cruise Port. The latter sits right by the entertainment Sun World Ha Long Complex, just five minutes drive from Halong Market and Quang Ninh Museum.
The winning location of the inland port makes it a convenient destination for cruise ships, high-speed boats and yachts. There are four modern wharfs in the port with a maximum loading capacity of 300 boats. The main destinations served from the port are Halong Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay and Gia Luan Port (Cat Ba Island). The new port can handle yachts, large high-speed boats and cruise liners which need to make an overnight stop close to Halong Bay. There are two wharfs 488 m long each and two smaller ones, measured 244 m and 171 m.
The port is well equipped with all necessary safety facilities including a standardised fire system, a sufficient number of life vests all along the wharf and a buoy corridor. A large, modern pontoon system will allow an easy docking for charging and stocking up on food, water and other supplies.
