Hungry? Take a Foodie's Trip to Yokohama

Yokohama, Japan's second largest city and a port town, sits hardly an hour away from Tokyo by car. It is a perfect destination if you want to explore yummy ramen culture. Here are the best places where to do it.

Shin-Yokohama Ramenn Museum
Arrive early or you risk to find a queue of foodies curious to learn about Japan's cult dish. The museum is dedicated to all things ramen – from the history of the dish, to its hey day back in 1958, to the types of ramen. There is even a replica of a historic neighbourhood with nine ramen shops each serving a special variety of ramen.

Cup Noodles Museum
Another noodle-related museum in Yokohama offers visitors to participate in cup noodle making activities after which you will probably look at cup noodles with more respect and appreciation.
Yokohama ChinatownRightfully considered one of the most prominent attractions of the city, this district is full of authentic Chinese flavours. Street food shops line the streets of Chinatown and tasting a nikuman (a meat bun) is a must.

Yoshimura ya-Ramen
Yoshimuraya is arguably the most reputable ramen spot in the city. It serves the iekei style of ramen. It started offering iekei style ramen back in 1974 and was the first shop to do it. This type of ramen was later adopted by many other shops in the area.
