Dal Lake to Host Nightly Laser Shows

Dal Lake, Kashmir's popular tourist draw, will soon get another attraction. The department of tourism of India is going to construct a musical fountain and perform laser shows there. 

The department of tourism has recently ran a trial show at Dal Lake on April, 10 and got very positive reviews both from locals and tourists what prompted the continuation of the performance on a permanent bases. Dal Lake musical fountain and laser Shows will become a nightly affair soon. Every evening, there will be three performances 15 minutes each starting from 7 pm. Shows during the initial 15 days will be free of charge with an entrance fee introduced after this period.

Dal Lake is located in Srinagar, the summer capital of the Jammu and Kashmir state. The lake is the second largest by size in the state and is affectionately dubbed 'Jewel in the crown of Kashmir'. There are numerous points of attraction around the lake including the island of Char Chinar, Nigeen Lake, and Chashme Shahi.

The best and fastest way to reach Srinagar is by air. Srinagar Airport is called Sheikh ul Alam Airport and is served by regular flights of several local carriers including Indigo, SpiceJet, Go Air and Air India that fly to/from and/or Mumbai. If flying is not your thing, there are regular trains between Delhi and Jammu followed by relatively comfortable bus rides from Jammu to Srinagar. Bussing from Delhi to Srinagar takes as long as 24 hours.
