Will Tickets to Scenic Spots in China Cost Less?

China is notorious for high entrance ticket prices to national parks and natural attractions. But this may change a bit by the end of the year as local governments in China were told to cut ticket prices.

The initiative is a part of a wider plan of the National Development and Reform Commission aiming at promotion of tourism country-wide. By order of the Commission, China's local governments should review their ticket pricing policy at the most popular tourist attractions in their administrative areas and cut charges before the end of the year.

Some major tourist attraction already saw a cut in entrance fees in 2018, but these prices have to be further revised and slashed. Also, all those popular tourist spots that were not on the 2018 list, should be considered with entrance fees set to lower level, too. NDRC further notes that besides reducing prices, the local authorities of scenic spots should work on the cost of services provided for tourists including transportation to attractions, cable car tickets, parking fees etc to make them more affordable for tourists. NDRC continues receiving complaints for monopolies in popular tourists sites with prices for tourist services being inflated.
