Travel Between Delhi and Alwar to Become Faster

Travel between Delhi, the capital of Indai, and Alwar, the former capital of the princely state of Alwar in British India and now a city in the northern state of Rajasthan, will soon become twice faster than now thanks to a new rapid rail project.

The construction of the 106-km Delhi-Gurugram-SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror Urban Complex) rapid rail project will save speed trains about two hours on the route between Delhi and Alwar. It is estimated, though, that the completion of the project will take not less than five years and will be carried out in three stages.

During the first stage Delhi-Gurugram-Rewari-SNB Urban Complex will be built. It will be then followed by the extention of the corridor from SNB Urban Complex to Sotanala. Finally, SNB Urban Complex will be connected to Alwar. In Delhi, the corridor will merge with other RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit Systems) corridors at Sarai Kale Khan thus making it unnecessary for passengers to change trains while travelling in between.

Rapid trains that will serve the route, will run at a maximum speed of 180 km/hr with regular 5-10 minutes intervals. All trains will be fully air-conditioned, feature soft seats and overhead luggage shelves as well as an exclusively lady coach and a business class coach in each train.
