36 Tourism Enterprises in Philippines Get ASEAN Tourism Award

36 enterprises of the tourism sector in the Philippines meet the requirements of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Tourism Standards what is now confirmed by ASEAN tourism award. 

The ASEAN Tourism Standards Award was created in order to mark the enterprises that provide services in line with "Quality Single Destination" standards, which were introduced by ASEAN member-states. The award recognizes efforts and commitment of groups working in the industry to the principles of sustainable tourism.

The award is an annual event. Currently it recognizes achievements of the enterprises dealing with tourism in seven pilot categories of standardization. These categories are Green Hotel, Community-based tourism, Homestay, Clean Tourist City, Spa Services, MICE Venue and Public Toilet.

This year, both private local government organizations in the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Visayas, and Davao region received the award.

The ASEAN Homestay Award went to Kiangan Homestay Association, the Siquijor Isla Mystica Homestay Association, the Batanes Homestay Association, and the Cabarroguis Homestay Association.

ASEAN Community-based Tourism Standard Awardees in 2019 are the Palaui Environmental Protectors Association from Cagayan Valley, the Tour Guide and Recreation Association, Inc. from Rizal, and the Sabang Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour Guide Association from Puerto Princesa.
