The show is expected to be financed by Index Creative Village and Thailand’s national artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. Created by Chiang Rai-born Chalermchai, Wat Rong Khun is visited by over two million visitors a year with daily records reaching 10,000 guests. During the Light Fest the temple will open its gates for the visitors at night for the first time in its history.
World class multimedia techniques will be used for illumination of the temple during the Light Fest including over 100 lasers, as well as 3D mapping. A 360-degree view and virtual reality techniques will help viewers to get fully immersive experience.
The five locations which will be illuminated are: the main hall of the temple (ubosoth), wishing well, bell tower, crematory and Ganesha tower. There will be two performances daily, at 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm, each one hour long. Tickets are expected to cost between THB400 and THB1150 with seating capacity of 1000 visitors per each performance. Book ahead!
