5G Is Coming to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station will become the world's first 5G railway station with the innovative service becoming available to all passengers later this year.

The super-fast network will be used for easy connection to the Internet for all the passengers in the public areas of the station what is a novelty. Hongqiao Railway Station is actually leading the 5G commercial deployment in Shanghai. The application of 5G will considerably enhance travel experience delivering many benefits to the travellers and public in general. It is expected that it will also help to speed up data transmission in more aspects of the digital economy. According to the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Information Technology, 5G will come to commercial use much faster than most people expected. 

Hongqiao Railway Station is one of the four major railway stations in Shanghai. Its total area of 1.3 mln sq m makes it the largest railway station in whole Asia. This large-scale, fully-functioning, integrated rail hub with advanced facilities boasts the highest level of modernization. On a daily bases, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station handles over 200,000 passengers with its waiting areas capaple of handling 10,000 passengers each single moment.
