MICE Tourism Market in Sri Lanka Grows

Sri Lanka is emerging as the fastest growing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism destination. According to the report published by the Research And Markets, by 2025 MICE sector in Sri Lanka will hit USD285 million mark. 

The report called 'Sri Lanka MICE Tourism Market: Current Trends, Opportunity, Growth Potential and Forecast to 2025' looks into Sri Lanka's potential opportunities and future trends from the point of view of MICE tourism in the country. It analyses arrival, revenue and main destination markets for MICE tourism in Sri Lanka

India, Maldives and China are forecasted to become the main source markets for MICE industry in Sri Lanka. In total, over 20 countries were covered by the report to single out the major players on Sri Lanka MICE tourism market. These countries are India, China, United Kingdom, Germany, Maldives, France, Australia, Russia, USA, Canada, Sweden, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Bangladesh and other countries.

Currently, MICE travellers constitute about 11% of all the international visitors arrivals to the country and this number is expected to grow. Sri Lanka has a long tradition of hosting major MICE and business meetings events. Some of the most popular venues for hosting MICE events include Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Excel World Entertainment Park, and Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), all located in Colombo.
