Save Big in Yogyakarta During Yogyakarta Thrilling Festival

Yogyakarta is currently hosting a month-long Yogyakarta Thrilling Festival, or Festival Jogja Heboh. The festival started on February, 1 and will run till the end of the month. The aim of the festival is to promote travel to the city in February.

Traditionally February is the worst month for the tourist sector in Yogyakarta in terms of tourists visits and hotel occupancy rates which are about 30% only. It is a considerable slow down compared to 60%-70% occupancy in January.

The festival lures tourists with special promotions on hotel rooms and value travel packages. Discounts on rooms vary within 10%-60% range. While the total number of hotels in Yogyakarta reach 800, it is reported that 200 hotels in Yogyakarta that are members of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI) including some non-star properties, are participating in festive promotions. The hoteliers of Yogyakarta hope that the festival will boost this month's tourism and help rise occupancy rate at least by 10%-20%.

Besides discounted hotel deals, the program of the festival features dinner promotions from restaurants, culinary fairs, and music performances throughout the city.
