Now citizens of 20 countries who are entitled to a visa-on-arrival fee waiver can apply for their VOA online. The full list of the nationalities who are exempted from THB2,000 visa on arrival fee is: Andora, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China including Taiwan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
In the meantime, Tourism and Sports Ministry of Thailand informed that in 2018 the Kingdom welcomed 38 million foreign visitors. Together they generated over two trillion baht in tourism revenues showing a 21% year-on-year increase compared to 2017's results.
In 2019, Thailand expects that the number of tourists arrivals will increase 7.5% and reach 41 million travellers. Tourism revenue is likely to grow even more – by 10% what corresponds to 2.21 trillion baht. Chinese tourists are expected to lead the list of the nationalities visiting Thailand accounting to over 11% of all foreign visitors. Travellers from other Asian countries are estimated as 10%.
