Uttarakhand to Host Asia'a Biggest Lake Festival

Asia's biggest lake festival will be held in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand on February, 26–28 this year. The festival is an annual event organized by Uttarakhand government. The event enjoys great popularity so it is recommended to book your tickets in advance.

The festival will take place in Tehri, a city famous for the highest damn in India, that sits on Bhagarathi River and is 260.5 m high. 

The program of the festival features water sports and other adventure and water related activities that are the main draw here and include boating, banana rides, river rafting, paragliding, kayaking, paragliding, water surfing, canoeing  and much more. Flying competitions and fireworks are on the list, too. Bollywood stars are invited and will participate in entertaining of the visitors. 

The old town of Tehri used to sit at the confluence of Bhagirathiu and Bhilangna rivers but was submerged because of the construction of the dam. Now the ruins of the old city lie underwater and the New Tehri is a highly urbanized modern city sitting at an altitude of 1750 m. To get to Tehri,  hop onto a bus from Dehradun, Haridwar, or Rishikesh. There is neither airport nor railway station nearby the closest ones located in Dehradun, 93 km away, and Rishikesh, 76 km away respectively.
