Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways Start Commercial Flights

After repeated delays, Vietnam's Bamboo Airways started their commercial flights on January, 16. The airline is going to operate 37 domestic routes complemented by at least three international routes – to Japan, Korea and Singapore – before the end of the year.

Bamboo Airways is owned by hotel and leisure company FLC Group JSC and is ready to compete in the crowded skies of Vietnam that are also one of the fastest growing avaition markets in the world. According to the International Air Transport Association projection, Vietnam's air-travel market will remain among the world's top-5 fastest-growing markets for the next 20 years. According to IATA, the air route connecting the capital city of Hanoi with the largest city in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, is already the sixth busiest route in the world in terms of passenger traffic. This makes even the unavoidable competition with two monsters of passenger avaition in Vietnam, state-owned Vietnam Airlines JSC and budget carrier VietJet Aviation JSC look not so frightening.

Bamboo Airways will operate from the company's two hubs – Noi Bai Internationa Airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. The routes which are already operational, include flights to Da Nang, Dong Hoi (for Phong Nha and So Doong cave), Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong), Phu Cat Airport, Tho Xuan Airport, and Vinh International Airport.
