Currently, after submitting all the necessary documents, foreigners who wish to visit Tibet, should wait 15+ working days, but soon the whole procedure will hopefully take not over a week. The permit should be obtained in addition to a valid Chinese visa. Tibet government regards tourism industry in the region as very promising and is putting efforts in improving the service rendered to foreign tourists. In 2018, Tibet welcomed over 33 million visitors, both domestic and foreign. This year, the number is expected to reach 40 million with a 50% increase of overseas visitors arrivals.
In the meantime, Yangbajain Town in Damxung County, Lhasa, Tibet, saw its first Yangbajain Hot Spring Tourism Season opened on January, 3. The theme of this season is 'Celebrating at World Third Pole, Winter Tourism Festival at Tibet'. Yangbajain's hot springs are located at the elevation between 4,290 and 4,500 metres and are the highest hot spring field both in China and in the world. The highest temperature in the hot hole reaches 125 degrees Centigrade. The hot springs are especially picturesque in the early morning when cool outside temperatures make the hot steam from the water visible.
Obtaining Tibet Travel Permit Will Take Less Time Soon
