Hangzhou Gets Its First 'Future Hotel' Thanks to Alibaba

Alibaba, a Chinese multinational e-commerce, retail, Internet, AI and technology conglomerate, headquartered in Hangzhou, the capital of China's Zhejiang Province, opens its first 'future hotel'.

Alibaba's flagman hotel features futuristic design and technologies and is named FlyZoo Hotel after Ali's booking service.

The hotel relies on facial recognition system which allows visitors to check-in by simply scanning their faces but not only. Guests' faces will also act as key cards for opening doors between different areas of the hotel and getting access to a variety of hotel services.

A digital assistant activated by voice will help guests of the hotel control in-room temperature and lights, switch television on and off, pull the curtains and much more. Coffee and drinks as well as food in the onsite cafe will be served by robots.

Seven of the rooms are themed around individual countries, among them – a “British room” full of Union Jacks and pictures of Big Ben and Tower Bridge. To stay in this first of its kind futuristic hotel be ready to shell out USD200 and up.
