Vaishno Devi Mandir is a Hindu temple complex dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Mata Adi Shakti. The temple complex sits 13.5 km from Katra at the Trikuta Mountain, in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. For devotees, a visit to the temple is not complete without a visit to Bhairon Mandir, though for many pilgrims the steep climb there proves too strenious.
Before the ropeway has been put into operation, the only means of transportation to reach the shrine from Vaishno Devi were ponies or electric vehicles. Thanks to the newly opened cable car service, the devotees can now reach the shrine easily and without hassle. The ride costs mere INR100. This ropeway project is one of the unique cable car projects. It took four years to complete this project, and now it will help pilgrims reach Bhairon Mandir in just a few minutes.
As winter season is the high season for visiting Katra, Indian Railways will introduce additional trains between Delhi and Katra.
Vaishno Devi–Bhairon Mandir Ropeway Service Operational Now

A 865-meter ropeway is now operational between Vaishno Devi Temple and the village of Bhairon Mandir. It cuts a 5.3 km, 50 minutes mountainous journey to under 10 minutes.
